Important Relationships lindsay Brown Final project

Scout's Relationships

Boo Radley, Scout's neighbor who keeps to himself, teaches Scout not to judge people by rumors. Scout thought that Boo Radley was mean and scary, but he really gave her things and saved her and Jem from Bob Ewell. While Scout was out in the cold, "So busy looking at the fire" (Lee 96), Boo Radley covers her with a blanket.
Mrs. Dubose, who forces Jem to read to her, taught Scout how to be strong. Mrs. Dubose suffered at the end of her life, throughout the time that Jem and Scout went to read to her everyday, so that she could do the right thing. When Atticus and Jem were discussing Mrs. Dubose on the night she passed away, Atticus said, "She said she was going to leave this world beholden to nothing and nobody" (Lee 148).
Tom Robinson, whom Scout's father is defending in court, showed Scout how to be brave. Tom didn't give up during the trial even though his chances were not good. While Scout watched Tom under oath at the trial he tells Atticus, "Mr. Finch, if you was like me, you'd be scared, too" (Lee 261).
Jem, Scout's older brother, shows Scout how to have courage and see things through to the end. When Jem is forced to read to Mrs. Dubose, he wants to give up, but Scout watches him follow through until the end. While Scout listens to Atticus and Jem discuss Mrs. Dubose, "It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what" (Lee 149).
Atticus, Scout's father, teaches Scout that in order to get along with people, you need to think about their perspectives. After Scout's terrible first day of school, with a brand new teacher, she tells Atticus that she's never going back. Atticus tells Scout that she will get along with her teacher better if she "climbed into her own skin and walked around in it" (Lee 39).

My Relationships

Mr. Brooks, my band director, has taught me how to believe in myself. After I played my first solo and received a II rating, he sat down with me and told me not to get down on myself. He continues to teach me to be proud and keep working my hardest.
My mom, and biggest supporter, has taught me to believe in myself. When I was a member of the pit orchestra for the musical, I had problems playing the music. I came home upset from rehearsal and my mom told me that I could do it and it would all turn out fine. As always, she was right.
Mr. McMosely, who gives me private lessons, has taught me that I have to work hard to accomplish my goals. He always gives me difficult tasks and pushes me to do my very best. The first lesson we had after my solo he was hard on me, but he has made me a better musician because of this. His teaching helped me get the 2nd chair clarinet as a freshman and a II on my first solo. He has also gotten me in the Salina Law Enforcement Band and the Salina Municipal Band.
My Grandma taught me not to take anything for granted. My Grandma and I used to spend a lot of time cooking and talking together. One specific day, we baked cookies and she told me that she is so grateful for my dad. I didn't think much of it at the time but I understand it more now. This has taught me that I should spend my time with the people that I have, because I won't always be able to.
My dad has taught me to help others every chance I get. My dad was notified that he's a match to donate bone marrow to a 30 year old women with bone cancer. On May 3rd, 2017, I watched my dad fly across the country to save someones life, and I've realized that it's important to do everything you can for others.
