As the 2021 season rolls around, the girls track and field team is getting ready for new things. After not having a season in 2020, the girls are coming into the season to battle. Since not having a season last year, the girls expect good things for the season. This year they are going up against new opponents.

Going into the 2021 track season, the girls expect to do great and are hoping to be better than the year before.

“I expect this upcoming season to be full of challenges. One of them being a lot of us haven’t worked out or trained, but after we start getting into things, I know it will all come together, and everyone will do good,” senior Jocelyn Cabuyadao said.

Junior Sarah Benes plans on setting goals for this season.

“I am expecting to hit some big goals this season, like get close to the school record mark in various distance events,” Benes said.

Pre-season of last year, the girls were able to build a bond with each other.

“We were bonding so well last year before the season was canceled and were all so eager to start up again," senior Gloria LaPalm said. "We probably won't have as many meets as a usual season, but the fact that we're even able to go compete at all is a win."

After not being able to compete last season, the team will be going against new and different opponents.

“Facing new opponents will be interesting for the team. Seeing new teams could mean a little bit tougher competition as well, which is a good thing,” Benes said.

Competing against new opponents brings out the best of people.

“No matter who we're going against, we’re going to bring our all," LaPalm said. "It’s definitely going to be different, but as long as we’re giving 100%."

As the 2021 season starts, the Sequoit track and field team looks to show out this year and show what they weren’t able to do the year before.
