Mission Statement: Helping Kids That Are Starving is a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed starving teens, ages 13-18, through soup kitchens and connect people to fight to end hunger in children.

Problem: HKTAS is working to solve the problem of hungry children. 39 percent of the homeless population are under the age of 18 (wake up and pay attention). According to, there are 1.7 homeless teens. These children do not have access to food, which is necessary to live.

Why is this importanT? Teens who are homeless do not have access to food. It is important to provide food for them because they have no other supports to get it. Teens are without food and support due to the following reasons, according to the National Conference of State Legislators on "46% left home because of abuse, 18% left because of sexual abuse, and 50% say their parents told them to leave or knew they were leaving and didn't care." By providing them food, we are giving the hungry children the chance to be healthy and perhaps get a job when they are old enough.

Solution: HKTAS will open a restaurant dedicated to feeding starving children the 13 million of them. Run off donations and volunteers, this restaurant will provide meals to children in need. HKTAS will cook meals and provide a place for children to eat them. Similar to JBJ Soul Kitchen, teens can volunteer an hour of time working in the restaurant to "pay" for their meal. This provides not only a meal, but also work experience for a possible job in the food industry.
