The gas mask is a very important item that people used in war. Also, because in the war they are attacking each other with gases, so that is why they need a gas mask to cover them self. "Early gas masks were simply cotton pads soaked in chemicals or poorly ventilated hoods with eyepieces that fogged up and cracked" (10 Things That Could Have Saved Your Life In The Trenches), this is what they used before the picture of the gas mask above, so they improved. They improved mostly because countries were copying other country's fighting styles. So, the gas mask was passed around.

The pocket surgical kit was kind like a med kit, but it is used for surgery purposes. This cite states, "Surgery most often took place at Casualty Clearing Stations or in hospitals behind the lines, but basic surgery could be initially performed closer to the battlefield in emergency cases" (10 Things That Could Have Saved Your Life In The Trenches). So, this means that the kit is used for, since they don't have a hospital nearby or anything. This means that they do basic surgery in the war since they don't have a hospital nearby or anything. So, that is why they use pocket surgical kits.

The mosquito net is used to prevent diseases. There were a lot of mosquitos back then and they carried diseases with them, so that is why in WWI people put up a net around their bed so they don't get that disease. This cite states, "This net was issued to British troops to protect them from mosquitoes and other insects that could spread diseases like malaria" (10 Things That Could Have Saved Your Life In The Trenches), so this is why they have the nets to protect them from mosquitos and other insects so the don't get malaria. So, this shows that insects are a problem. So, that is why they have a mosquito net.

People wore these to prevent being hit in the head, since that is a vulnerable spot. This cite states, "British Army issued soft cloth caps that offered no protection against artillery, machine gun and rifle fire" (10 Things That Could Have Saved Your Life In The Trenches), this shows that they improved to protect their heads better. Helmets played a very important part in the war. Without helmets people could easily get hit in the head and die. So, that is why steel helmets are important.

The trench club is used to go out from the trench and use the club to fight at night. This cite states, "Trench clubs were used during night time raids by both sides" (Crudely Shaped Trench Club from World War One), this shows that not just one side was fighting at night but both sides. So, this was another way for them to be fighting. So, the people in the war have many methods to fight. So, that was what trench clubs were used for.
