Harn Museum of Art Rachael Neary

II-06-94 Nancy Graves

I really admired this sculpture and viewing it tin person was a much better experience than viewing it in a photograph. The techniques and mediums used by this artists was interesting because she juxtaposed elements such as bones and teeth with stars and music notes causing the audience to consider the piece more and conveying a more chaotic reflection of life.

The Asian Art Collection Wing

I really liked the layout of the Asian art collection. It was very open and spacious with the back wall composed of windows looking out into a nice garden, resulting in natural lighting and a beautiful view as a background. I also liked the wooden flooring and paneling on the walls. I felt very comfortable and peaceful.

Islandia, Goddess of the Healing Waters Audrey Flack

The sculpture was intended by the artist to represent elements democracy and egalitarianism, specifically equality for women. I really admired the strength of the goddess in the statue.

Seated Bodhisattva

The seated Bodhisattva conveys themes of good life because its a Buddhist saint, which has to do with enlightenment and achieving the good life. Although the Bodhisattva refrains from achieving enlightenment himself, his role is help people find their own enlightenment, a.k.a. the good life. this piece is a prime example of how art can help inspire people to find the good life.
