Learning About Land Acknowledgment Spurs Student Ideas

Thanks to a multi-class project led by History Department Chair Sarah Palomo (SP), junior Ruby Goldstein ’22 (RG) shares her thoughts regarding ways The Wheeler School can acknowledge the tribal lands on which its two campuses are located. Learn how you can also do more to acknowledge the indigenous history of your area through similar ideas and resources within this blog.

This Week at Wheeler: The Famous Wheeler Clothing Sale team is partnering with local organizations, like Clothes To Kids RI to donate clothing that would have otherwise been sold at the Famous Wheeler Clothing & More Sale, see their interview on Channel 10 WJAR !

While the pandemic canceled a long-awaited art installation celebrating the centennial of Mary Wheeler’s Memorial Art Exhibit at the Providence Art Club last May, the catalog for the exhibit has been published and is now available to the Wheeler community and public.

After a seven month hiatus, the Warriors hosted their first interscholastic athletic event October 3 at The Farm! Hamilton 8th grade is studying “Entrepreneurs and Innovators,” with help from Hamilton School's 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, Dean Bragonier, and our 6th grade is seeking adventure through a new Adventure in Leadership program out at the Farm.

ICYMI: Over the weekend, Upper School Jazz Teacher Francisco Cardoso released a new video featuring Wheeler alumna/i and faculty, along with other international musicians as collaborators.

Sign up for the flu clinic: To prepare for the late fall and winter months, Wheeler is hosting the onsite Wellness Company Flu Vaccine Clinic on October 15 & 21 for students, faculty, and staff. From time to time Wheeler shares information about research studies. If you are interested in learning more about helping to find a vaccine for COVID-19, the Miriam Hospital is running a study for those 18 years of age and older. The flyer is here.

Enrollment Office Seeks Parent Ambassadors: With a Virtual Open House planned for this October 24, parent volunteers are needed to follow-up with prospective parents/guardians during their enrollment journey. Our Prospective Parent Ambassador Network is entering its second year to assist the Enrollment Office to speak by phone, email or video chat to prospective families on why Wheeler and Hamilton are the right choice for one’s family. If you're interested in learning more about this PPAN group, please contact the Wheeler Enrollment Office at

enrollment@wheelerschool.org. Training will take place via zoom at 8 am and 9 am, October 27.
