Native People Conflict How did colonists and Europeans affect NAtive Americans?

How did English colonists and Europeans affect the lives of Native Americans, you ask? Well, the Europeans and colonists affected the Native Americans in many ways, especially through conflict. Colonists and Europeans affected the lives of the Native Americans by taking their land constantly, killing them, and having conflict. This affected the Native Americans and their families. There would be no more Native Americans if that kept happening.

This picture shows the colonists and the Native Americans encountering.

One reason that Natives Americans were affected by the colonists or Europeans was because the colonists took most of Native American’s land. According to the chapters(or source) of history-social science for California, “ English Conflicts with American Indians”, the text states, “Both sides fought fiercely, but by 1646 the colonists had taken most of the Powhatan land.(map) " As it says in the text, this happened in 1646." The Arapaho tribe once said, “Take only what you need and leave the land as you found it.” The Native people from long ago would not want you to do this because it is wrong. According to the text, “In 1637 conflicts between English colonists and the Pequot over trade, land, and culture led to the Pequot War in New England.” Also, like it says in the text, this happened in 1637. This shows that the English colonists and the Native Americans had conflict about lots of things, including land.

This was the way colonists drove Native Americans off of their land in the early days.

Also, the other reason why Natives Americans were affected by the colonists or Europeans was because of killing Native Americans off. According to, “ English Conflicts with American Indians”, the text states, “Further attacks by colonists killed and displaced even more Pequot.” This happened in the 1600's. Sitting Bull once said, “If we must die we must defend our rights.” The text states, “One night the colonists and their American Indian allies set fire to a Pequot village and killed hundreds of people.” This also happened in the 1600's. This is because the colonists hated the Native Americans, so they decided to inflict harm upon them.

The final reason that Natives Americans were affected by the colonists or Europeans was because of conflict. According to the chapters(or source) of history-social science for California, “ English Conflicts with American Indians”, the text states, “Although European settlers and American Indians often cooperated and learned from each other, they had many conflicts too.” This was in the 1600's. Black Elk once said, “There can never be peace between nations until there is first known that peace which is within the souls of men.” According to the text, "At first, the colonists and the Powhatan traded goods and food. However, neither side really trusted each other." This was also in the 1600's. That is what started the conflict, the two sides not trusting each other at first.

Native Americans and Colonists conflict

With all of this information, we all can conclude that the colonists and Europeans were terrible to the Native Americans. This is true because the colonists took their land, killed them, and had conflict with them. The colonists had no reason to be so denote, though. The Native Americans did nothing to them, although they fought back. For some reason, they thought the Native Americans were so bad, that they just acted like it. Doing that, they were being unreasonable.
