WILDCAT DAY'S GALLATIN COUNTY SCHOOLS - NON TRADITIONAL INSTRUCTION

WHAT IS A WILDCAT DAY?

A Wildcat Day Is determined by the Superintendent when school is canceled for the day because of snow or an emergency. The state give us up to 10 day's to use.

WHEN WILL WILDCAT DAY'S START?

Calling a Wildcat Day is left up to the Superintendent. Not all days may be a Wildcat Day.

HOW WILL WE HEAR ABOUT WILDCAT DAY'S

When school is called off, the Superintendent or the TV/Radio announcement will say - Gallatin County Schools closed today Wildcat Day 1, ,Wildcat Day 2, etc.. (this will also be posted on or website and all call system. If you do not hear a Wildcat Day called it means that day is not a Wildcat Day.

Student's will have 7 days to complete the work. Student's can either chose to work on a packet provided by the teacher or work on -line to complete the information.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY PACKET?

Don't panic! If conditions are safe and you can get out, you can copy a packet at the Gallatin County Public Library, Stop at the Central Office, or the school. If you cannot get a packet remember you still have 7 days to turn it in. So relax and don't panic.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF WILDCAT DAY'S?

Since students lose momentum and focus during these days, it allows students continuation of skill reinforcement, remediation and enrichment. Also, it will not extend our make-up days into the summer months.

WHAT IF WE HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE WORK?

Teachers will be available through various means of communication from 10 AM - 2PM during a Wildcat Day. This should be communicated with the student prior to a Wildcat Day

WILL ALL SNOW DAYS COUNT?

Hopefully. We have to turn into the Kentucky Department of Education the number of students who participated (turned their work in). The State department then determines if we had enough student's turn in their work to count as a day.

WHAT DO FAMILIES NEED TO KNOW?

1. Watch for information from your child's school.

2. Talk to your child about expectations and completing the work.

3. Teachers will be sending the packets or providing on-line work sometime in December. They can work on it anytime.

4. Send us your pictures of your child working on the Wildcat Day Information. Send to twitter #wildcatday or visit our webpage for information.
