Well, it’s definitely been a busy week this week. We’ve worked incredibly hard in Year 5 and we are thoroughly enjoying our lessons.
Inspired by our class reader, The Firework-Maker’s Daughter, we decided to try our hand at making Chinese lanterns.
First of all, we had to create designs on paper. We decided to keep them simple by only using black and white patterns.
Look at the concentration on our faces! They are being displayed in the classroom so we wanted them to turn out well for others to see.
Once our designs were complete, we had to use our cutting skills to create the incisions to give the lantern effect.
Finally, we had a bit of help to put the whole thing together. They look effective with the black, white and red colours and they are proudly on display in our classroom, hanging from the ceiling.
In Science this week, we have been learning about electricity.
We used electrical components to create a circuit.
We also learned how to use the scientific symbols for the components in order to draw them.
Finally, to top of a great week, Connor was our Star of the Week for working hard and settling well into life in Year 5.
I wonder what will be in store for us next week? We’ll keep you posted.
