On Sunday April 23rd, The University of Southern Maine Huskies for Reproductive Health and the Queer Straight Alliance partnered to host a Slut Walk in Portland, Maine.
"Slut Walk" is a transnational movement of protest marches calling for an end to rape culture. Specifically, participants protest against explaining or excusing rape by referring to any aspect of a person's appearance.
This sign was passed around for people to take photos of to post or have for themselves, sometimes people are too scared to ask for help but there is always someone willing to listen.
"I'm a portland resident, I'm 23 years old. Three years ago this spring I was raped at College of the Atlantic and I'm here to talk about being a rape survivor. I have come a long way and I wanted to talk about what we can do and the power that we have as survivors."
