"Building On Our Mission Together" AT BAPTIST PREP Please scroll down this page to see all the exciting things happening at Baptist Prep and learn how you can support this effort.

Dear Baptist Prep Family,

We are so excited about all the wonderful things happening at The Baptist Preparatory School, and want to share our new construction plans for both our lower and upper school campuses. When our Board of Trustees voted to move forward with these construction projects, the membership made sure we pursued a plan that would:

  • Advance Baptist Prep's mission
  • Benefit every single Baptist Prep student
  • Be paid for through gifts and pledges from our larger Baptist Prep family

Because we listened to members of our Baptist Prep family -- through numerous interviews, meetings, and focus groups -- we feel like we have achieved our first two goals. We ask that you prayerfully consider how you and your family could help us achieve our final goal.

We have been financially blessed in this effort. We ask that you explore these exciting projects and Baptist Prep’s financial progress.

Thank you for your consideration and commitment to our students.

Sincerely,

Dr. Laura Bednar, Head of School

Dr. Jonathan Curtis, Chairman, Board of Trustees

The Baptist Preparatory School has been a healthy, vibrant institution since its founding in 1981. Our mission is to glorify God by assisting families in the Christ-centered, biblically-directed education of their children. Our vision to provide a quality education focused on academic and Christian excellence is unwavering.

We work faithfully to enable our students to engage the world academically, socially and spiritually.

ACADEMIC PREPARATION

Baptist Prep provides the resources and environment to foster a child’s academic success. Our students will be well-prepared for the rigor of college and the responsibilities of life.

SOCIAL PREPARATION

Baptist Prep hopes to instill in each student the ability to engage in the world successfully through strong family relationships, personal responsibility and leadership roles.

SPIRITUAL PREPARATION

Baptist Prep teaches, trains and disciples our students to have strong biblical foundations that prepare them for a life of serving God and others. We believe that our Triune God--by grace alone through faith alone--regenerates one’s heart and transforms one's entire life.

Excellence Recognized

THE BEST CHOICE FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES

Baptist Prep has won a BEST CHOICE for KIDS & FAMILIES AWARD. The readers of Kid’s Directory voted and we were selected the BEST CHOICE for Private or Parochial High School.

Meet Addison, Parker and Halle

Addison has been a Baptist Prep student since Kindergarten. Now in the 7th grade, she plays on the 7th grade girls basketball team, sings in the Jr. High Choir, plays the piano, swims competitively year round and maintains an all-A average. Baptist Prep has provided Addison with tremendous opportunities to excel in academics, athletics and arts. All of this has happened within the context of a Christian environment.

The new Upper School Athletic Practice and Fine Arts Center will provide Addison and her basketball teammates a needed place to practice. She is excited that the state-of-the-art stage, sound and lights will give choir, band and drama a new home to perform and a new place for them to worship weekly in Chapel.

Addison’s younger brother Parker and sister Halle, in 4th and 2nd grades, look forward to learning about God’s creation in the outdoor classroom and running and practicing sports on the turf field. The new safety and security enhancements will also give their mom and dad even more confidence that they are learning in a safe and secure environment.

The Opportunity

Baptist Prep's Board of Trustees, along with the administration and staff, have worked diligently to identify key projects that will advance the school’s mission and vision.

  • In December 2015, the school began a comprehensive process to gauge the feasibility of a capital campaign, which included sit-down interviews with 155 members of the Baptist Prep family.
  • The findings showed that 96 percent of the school's constituency enthusiastically support the identified projects and are in agreement with their necessity and value. As a result, we are excited to announce that the board has initiated a $2.6 million campaign titled, Building On Our Mission Together: A Capital Campaign for Baptist Prep.
  • The projects funded by this campaign will enhance the quality of education Baptist Prep offers our students, providing opportunities to excel academically, athletically, socially and spiritually. Our students will have more opportunities to learn, play, perform, practice and worship together in a safe environment.
Students, Teachers, Administration, Members of the Baptist Prep Board of Trustees and Wonderful Volunteers Broke Ground On These Exciting Projects In November.

Upper School

Upper School Athletic Practice and Fine Arts CenteR

This multi-use facility will serve as a practice and training gymnasium for upper school athletics and physical education classes. The expanded space will also serve our outstanding fine arts program. The large stage and seating for up to 500 make this the perfect space for band and choral concerts and theatrical productions. This facility will accommodate weekly chapel services and allow Baptist Prep to host camps, conferences and athletic tournaments.

If your Baptist Prep student attends chapel, takes PE, plays volleyball or basketball, participates in cheer, sings in the choir, plays an instrument in the band, is in school plays or is artistic, then you have probably heard about all the new opportunities our multi-use facility will afford our Baptist Prep students. They are excited and so are we!

Baptist Prep believes in being good stewards of that with which we've been entrusted. This expansion is a true multi-use space.

Athletic Practice Center

This facility will be a new home to our Championship sports programs and physical education on the Upper School campus:
  • Boys and Girls Basketball Program
  • Girls Volleyball Program
  • Physical Education
  • Indoor option for other sports due to inclement weather

This new space will include: Practice Gymnasium with Wood Flooring • Competition-Sized Basketball Court • Competition-Sized Volleyball Court • Physical Education Activities • Additional Storage • New Office Space.

The State Champion Baptist Prep Eagles Basketball Team
Caley Williams enjoys having the opportunity to play a volleyball at Baptist Prep.

Did you know:

Having an additional Upper School practice space will promote greater participation in Lower School sports by freeing up time in the after-school practice schedule for our Lower School gymnasium.

Fine Arts (Performing Arts) Center

Baptist Prep will be able to better showcase its acclaimed Fine Arts Programs with this facility:
  • Band – All-State recognition for multiple years
  • Choral Arts – All-State recognition
  • Drama -- A focused effort for grades 7-12

This new space will comfortably hold campus-wide chapel services, and host banquets, camps, community events, and conferences. Highlights of the space include: Seating for up to 500 individuals • Flexible Staging with Curtain • State-of-the-Art Lighting, Sound & Video Projection • Acoustical Panels • Engineered Modular Floor Covering.

Baptist Prep students will have a new space to worship in weekly chapel. This new space will allow Baptist Prep to host camps and conferences as well.

Did you know?

We will protect Upper School students from the elements. When completed, students will use an enclosed staircase, as opposed to the old external staircase that had connected the 1st and 2nd floors.

Lower School

Turf Activities Field and Outdoor Classroom/Amphitheater

A bigger, better recreational space at the lower school will provide our younger students a safe place to exercise, socialize and unwind from the rigors of the classroom. A new activities field will give our students an additional space to play during recess and a new sports practice field for after-school athletics. The new outdoor classroom/amphitheater will provide our students with a great opportunity to learn outside in God’s creation. This new space will allow for greater flexibility for outdoor programs during the school day and create new possibilities for evening, outdoor events in the Spring and Fall.

Transforming Lower School Recreation and Learning With New Outdoor Opportunities

These projects at the lower school will impact every single student, creating new opportunities to learn, play, relax and compete.

8000 Square-Feet Turf Recreational Field

Recess with never be the same! The addition of recreational field at the Lower School will provide our students a safe place to exercise, socialize and unwind from the rigors of the classroom. The new recreational field will use state-of-the-art synthetic field turf technology providing cushion and traction for young feet. The field will sit atop a surface designed to drain even in the heaviest downpours.

This will be the perfect location for Baptist Prep’s 4th, 5th and 6th graders’ after-school football practice instead of parents having to shuttle their students to the Upper School practice field in rush-hour traffic. The cushioned surface will also serve as a great venue for the Lower School’s cheer squad to perfect its routines. This 8000 sq.ft. field will provide a new, safe surface that students of all ages will enjoy both now and for years to come.

A New Outdoor Space for 170 Lower School Students

The outdoor classroom/amphitheater will give our Lower School students a new and needed site for learning and activities. This addition will transform the north lot into a venue capable of hosting school events that build a deeper sense of community.

This space will give our teachers more opportunities to move their classrooms outdoors, surrounded by God’s creation. Studies have shown that incorporating outdoor learning can improve memory, enhance motivation, increase student participation and even improve grades. This new structure will be constructed out of molded concrete and provide seating for up to 170 students. With shaded surroundings that will nearly double the area’s capacity, this amphitheater will become a desirable location for a school play, an evening band concert, or a fun movie night for our Baptist Prep families.
