Alumni Spotlight With Christina Manning
Where do you currently live? Montgomery, Alabama.
What year did you graduate from Ohio State? 2012.
You’re still competing professionally, where do you train at? I train at Alabama State University (in Montgomery).
What is your fondest memory of your time at Ohio State? I always think back to the track and field team. We were all so close, like a family. I tend to think about the Mirror Lake jumps before the Michigan games.
What is the most valuable thing you took away from being a student-athlete at Ohio State? The importance of friendship. I can truly say I made lifelong friendships at Ohio State. During those years of my life, I was growing into a young woman without my parents being right there to catch me every time I fell. Instead, I had friends who were there growing and learning with me. My time at Ohio State wouldn’t have been the same without them.
What are skills/traits you need to have to be successful at track and field? In order to be successful, you have to be extremely disciplined and competitive. I believe track and field is one of the toughest sports and you have to be willing to sacrifice.
