IMPORTANCE OF MANAGERS BEING FLEXIBLE AND ADAPTABLE
It is important for a manager to be flexible and adaptable within their business because the business environment is changing so rapidly that managers need to be able to adapt to the competitive and rapidly changing environment. Managers must be able to solve problems - finding and then implementing a course of action to correct an unworkable situation. Managers also need to be able to make decisions by identifying the options available and then choosing a specific course of action to solve the specific problem. Ultimately, managers are encouraged to be flexible, adaptable and proactive rather than reactive.
FLEXIBILITY AND ADAPTABILITY LINKED TO BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
If managers are able to respond to changes within the business, they are more likely to keep up with their competition and thus sustain their market share. By being able to lead employees, the manager is able to provide a vision for their employees to achieve the goals of a business (for example profit or quality). Hence, managers can lead by example, acting as role models for employees.
