PE and Sport at Rothley CofE Academy Autumn Term 2018

Welcome to the first edition of the termly PE and Sport at Rothley e-newsletter. The aim of this newsletter is to promote and celebrate the PE and sport we have done at Rothley over the last term.

Our Football season for this year concluded a couple of weeks ago, our objective over the 4 weeks of participation is to make sure that everyone who attended the lunchtime training sessions had the chance to represent the school in the competitive matches. We gave 36 children the chance to do this. Unfortunately we didn't progress to the champions league, after missing out on just 1 point. However we now go into another league starting after Christmas (see below for dates). Again children will be picked on lunchtime attendance. Congratulations to all the children involved, and we go again in the new year! Click on the table below is the final league standings

A big thank you to all the children who have attended our Cross Country club over the last 3 months, we braved all weathers and the progression made was unbelievable! Congratulations to those who attended the Prestwold races, our attendance and participation was amazing, especially the last one as again the weather wasn't too kind! In total we had 35 children who represented the school in the event. Our year 3 boys team came the closest to winning a trophy, finishing 4th. Our next cross country event is on 2nd March, to be held at Ratcliffe college. More information will be sent out in the new year

Three children represented the school in a Boccia tournament recently. Congratulations on Logan, Isla and Robyn as they went on to win the competition! All 3 children played against a number of schools in order to get to the final and win the prize! We fought off competition from Queniborough, Glenfield and Church Hill Juniors. Well done!

In PE, our FCS coaches (Mr Palmer, Mr Patel, Miss Crane and Miss Harvey) have delivered an active fitness program which the children will complete each term.

Each year group have their own programme which will improve children’s fundamental movements and fitness.

Our programme will make significant impact in overall levels of health, fitness and wellbeing.
