Mi Frida Portrait Contest For Children in Grades K - 12

CALLING ALL YOUNG ARTISTS

Show us Your Frida in the Mi Frida Portrait Contest

Frida Kahlo and portraits of her have become iconic in pop culture because of her unique sense of self. One could say her look was a work of art on its own. Today Frida Kahlo’s Tehuana-inspired dress, elaborate hairstyles, and dignified unibrow are as recognizable as her paintings. The Biggs Museum’s upcoming exhibition “Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray” celebrates Kahlo’s powerful and uncompromising sense of self.

We invite young artists (grades K-12) to explore and be inspired by the many ways Kahlo chose to represent herself. Create your own portrait of Frida Kahlo in any size and in any medium for the opportunity to have your artwork exhibited at the Biggs and the chance to win $100, a family membership, art supplies and much more!
