Week 9 - Monday, 4 September - Friday, 8 September - The second last week of term and a couple of interruptions. Tuesday is Tag Gala Day and all permission slips have a been returned......thank you. On Wednesday, Mrs Conlon and I will be out of the classroom planning for next term. Thursday will be our last day of homework. It has been a very busy term learning and assessing in different formats to meet Australian curriculum standards across the subjects.

Week 8 - Monday, 28 August - Friday, 1 September - A quiet week this week apart from the Father's Day Stall at 9:50 Friday morning. The timetable will be followed as per usual with the finishing touches being put to work that is to be completed or presented next week. Science, history, geography and poetry should be ready for assessment next week. The Yr 5/6 bake stall made approximately $780.......a HUGE Thank You for your support.

Week 7 - Monday, 21 August - Friday, 25 August - What a great week we had last week for Wellness Week. It provided us with the opportunity to allow time for students to work on their constructions......and they look good. Photos will come next week. It was still a busy week but the learning environment looked quite different. All the money we made from the Bake Stall will be banked next week and will let the girls know how much we made. Thank you for your stirling efforts. On Monday we have a poet visiting our rooms talking to the girls about the poetry he has written and about poetry in general. At assembly on Monday afternoon athletic carnival presentations will be made. Book Week Parade is first thing Friday morning where the girls may choose which book character they will dress up as.

Week 6 - Monday, 14 August - Friday, 18 August - Wellness Week. This week for Wellness Week, we will follow a different timetable. There will be more freedom and time given to the girls to work on their constructions. Specialist lessons will be as usual but normal class lessons will change to allow for more individual learning. There will be NO homework this week. NO Friday Assembly Awards also.
Tuesday is our Bake Sale and we are asking the girls to bring in some cupcakes, biscuits or slices. The proceeds from the sales will go to St Vincent De Paul. For Science Week Yr 5 classes will make bird feeders. Remember a cardboard roll is required. There is a Paper Plane challenge as well. Wednesday is the Ekka Holiday and Friday is the Athletics Carnival.
Week 5 - Monday, 7 August - Friday, 11 August - Don't forget to bring in library books on Monday. Tuesday is the feast of Mary MacKillop and Wednesday is the Yr 5/6 mass at 9:30am. Some girls will be visiting residents of the Delamore Centre on Thursday to share their crochet samples. Advance notice that Yr 5 camp is on the 8-10 November (Week 6). The necessary paperwork will be sent home at the beginning of Term 4.

Week 4 - Monday, 31 July - Friday 4 August - Thank you to the grandparents and visitors who came into our classrooms on Friday to share in our learning; the girls really enjoyed having you with them. There are no interruptions to the timetable this week so work will continue at a steady pace. Well done to Molly for her efforts at City Districts Athletics Carnival.

Week 3 - Monday, 24 July - Friday, 28 July - This week is Catholic Education Week with the theme Sharing the journey. A whole school mass will be celebrated at 9:30am Friday, 28th. Some girls are attending the City Districts Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. Library borrowing is on Monday.

Term 3 - Monday, 17 July - Friday, 21 July - Welcome back to the routine of school life. It has been an easy week as some girls have been away on Music Camp and we have not charged ahead too much in their absence. Our new learning has begun and the girls appear to be in control of it all. We have noticed a marked change in the girls' approach to their schoolwork, the confidence they now demonstrate and the enthusiasm they show as they undertake the challenges their new learning presents. There are no significant changes to the timetable. PE uniform Tuesday and Thursday, Library borrowing on Monday.

Holidays - Happy Easter - Well an unplanned end to Term 1. Some loose ends will be tidied up when we return on Tuesday, 18 April. Have a restful, enjoyable break from the routine of school.
Week 8 - Monday, 13 March - Friday, 17 March - Thursday - Tuckshop is offering a sausage sizzle lunch for $2.50 and there is a school disco in the evening. On Friday students may wear a splash of green to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Students should now be building their house for their project. Most of the activities on the Term Grid Homework tasks should be nearing completion.

Week 7 - Monday, 6 March - Friday, 10 March -Tuesday, Excursion to Downfall Creek. Remember to bring a 'Litter-less' morning tea. Thank you to Eliza's mother, Zoe's Mother, Alessia's mother and Heidi's mother for joining us on this outing. Wednesday is International Woman's Day - Mass at 9am. Guest Speaker, Laura Fenlon, 10am. The students are working their way through their Science/ Geography/ Technology Project and are at the stage where they should be constructing their house. The students may need some advice and some re-purposed material for this activity.

Week 6 - Monday, 27 February - Friday, 3 March - Special Swimming Awards Assembly on Tuesday at 2:20pm. Ash Wednesday Mass at 9am. Lent begins. Project Compassion focus during lent will include Caritas mission stories and fundraising activities. By now students should have completed at least three activities on their TERM Homework Grid. Work has begun in class on the Science/Geography and Technology Project.

Week 5 - 20 February - 24 February - Tuesday is Reconciliation for 5F and Swimming Carnival on Friday. There will be a special assembly on Tuesday, 28 February (after the Swimming Carnival) to present awards. Thank you for coming in this week and speaking with us about your child. It is important to share information that assists with your child's learning. 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting and fruitful year for us all.

Hello from Mrs Cathie Bennedick and Mrs Anne Conlon. We are excited to be walking the learning path with the 55 girls in Yr 5, your daughters, as they learn and grow this year. We offer a special warm welcome to the three new girls and their families who have joined the group this year. We look forward to meeting up with you all at Parent Information Night.
