Canoe Trip 2015

The Peace River moves slowly through Florida offering the canoeist the experience of encountering an untamed wilderness. Biology students of Walker Memorial Academy immerse themselves into a two-day trip that will give them a taste of a true "world apart".
Students are paired into canoes to test their paddling skills as they navigate their way through this meandering zigzagging river.
As they move along the river, there is time to enjoy it's refreshing beauty.
Girls must stay clean while using biodegradable shampoo, of course.
After setting up camp, it is time to rest and enjoy the natural beauty of the river.
The trip is an intentional feature to enhance the authentic learning of the science of wildflowers: their role in the ecosystem as well as the forms and functions of the wide variety found in Florida.
Students will collect, identify, press, and watercolor several different species of flowers found on the Peace River and include them in their collection.
Each adventure has its moments...FUN and PLAY.
Catch and release.
