To the following faculty for their achievements in research:

Nick Carcioppolo for receiving a Pilot Award from The Miami Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. CTSI’s Pilot Awards support research that is translational, innovative, and interdisciplinary. These awards of $40,000 each allow investigators to generate preliminary data for a federal grant submission. Carcioppolo is one of 10 UM faculty to receive a CTSI award.

The award is for the study of the effectiveness of an entertainment-education intervention using a short film to increase HIV status disclosure among black intimate partners. The project has received a 4C Pilot award.

  • Kim Grinfeder for receiving the Best Virtual Reality Film Award at the 2018 Takoma Film Festival for his project SwampScapes, produced in collaboration with Spring 2018 Visiting Knight Chair, Liz Miller.

  • Ed Talavera for receiving a 2019 Suncoast Emmy in the Arts/Entertainment category for his project Landscape Sublime. The project aired on WPBT/WXEL last May as part of its Art Loft program and was a collaboration between the MFA Cinema program and ArtCenter/ South Florida.

Important Announcement: 4C Pilot Awards - January Deadline

4C Pilot Awards, January Deadline will be January 25, 2019. Applications will be accepted via InfoReady.

Please note: funds from this award must be spent by the end of the Spring 2019 semester. This will in effect be the last January call for 4C Pilot awards due to fiscal reporting requirements. The September and April deadlines will remain.

Reminder: Applications for External Funding

-All SoC external funding applications have to be submitted to the Office of Research Administration by the 4C Senior Administrative Assistant, Greta West.

-When possible submit your application at a minimum 3-weeks (that is 15 working days) prior to the application deadline in order for our office to meet the ORA deadlines. A 4-week lead time would be appreciated in order to allow for us to process on time.

-Our office will collect all necessary signatures and submit to ORA

-Please make sure you provide the following documents:

  • Complete/Final Application
  • Budget
  • Budget Justification
  • Funding Announcement
  • Guidelines of Award

F&A Waiver Requests must be submitted to ORA at least 15-days prior to the Deadline

Make sure you are up-to-date with your disclosures Conflict of Interest training.
