Board Meeting 1-12-17 "Old Sport" - Mathew madrid

Gadsden High Senior Mathew Madrid, left, was recognized by the Board of Trustees and Supt. Efren Yturralde for winning the prestigious El Paso Community College President's Award beating out nearly 2,000 entries. Madrid is ranked 7th in his class and also attends classes at New Mexico State. At right is Debbie Hartman, Gadsden High art teacher. His work is entitled "Old Sport" and it was created to depict the type of truck his grandfather drove.

GISD pre-K students from various GISD sites including the GAC race around the audience at the Board meeting to highlight their presentation on the recent Trike-A-Thon fundraising event to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. This year the event raised over $6,000.

Pre-K staff members from the various sites were recognized by the Board and Superintendent Efren Yturralde for their effort to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Samantha Nava, a sophomore at Alta Vista Early College High School poses with Superintendent Efren Yturralde after the board meeting. Nava is one of many students who have participated in the Board meeting as a student representative and presenting highlights and activities of their representative school.
