Keeping Up with Equality? What's behind international Women's day?

Is it necessary for woman to still prove themselves? - Some people might ask, “is it necessary for woman to still prove themselves?” The obvious answer is “no” It is not necessary for woman to still prove themselves. This is, because woman have shown power and loyalty to everyone, throughout the years and should be treated equally.

Image you are in a crowded space in the streets of New York City. Woman and men are all around you, holding up signs and yelling about their rights and others. Will you join their protests? Or will you be the one to push your way through and forget?

International Women's Day is a day of remembrance for all the hard working women that are in the "behind the scene action" everyday. This year (2017) women and men all around the world protested and marched for a chance for their voices to be heard. Some women decided not to go to work or not spend any money, to represent that they are better off along and deserve their independence.

According to History.com it states “The historian Temma Kaplan revisited the first official National Woman’s Day, held in New York City on February 28, 1909. (The organizers, members of the Socialist Party of America, wanted it to be on a Sunday so that working women could participate.)” This certain organization made sure that all women can participate- even the working. This shows that even women made National Women's Day equal and open to every working class.

Also, according to cnn.com it clearly states, “This year, the United Nations is calling on governments to make national commitments that address the challenges still holding women and girls back.” This is good for women and girls in general because the government is willing to address the problems women and girls are facing. This can also be bad because some women might feel that they don't need the government to handle problems and may want more independence.

So, the choice is yours- you can stand up for women's rights and what you believe in, or you can take the chance of not being heard at all. Remember, every single voice in this world counts towards something that is going to help make a difference later on.
