LEARN TO KNIT! We are offering weekly learn to knit drop in sessions - Saturday mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm. No experience necessary. Whether you've never picked up needles before, or you wish to dust yours off from years of retirement, we are happy to teach/help you! No commitment necessary, come when you like and as often as you like. There is no charge for instruction, however yarn for your project must be purchased at the Shoppe. We are encouraging those attending to choose a pattern from "The Simple Collection" designed by Tin Can Knits. This collection is a step-by-step learn to knit program perfect for the new knitter. All patterns come in several sizes from baby to grandpa. We are looking forward to getting you started on your knitting journey!


CHRISTMAS CAST ON SERIES! Christmas is just 6 months away...and we have created a the Christmas Cast On Series to get you started on your holiday knitting! Each month we will be featuring a knit project perfect for Christmas gift giving. We are kicking the series off with our most popular knit...the Zick Zack Scarf. We will be knitting the Zick Zack Scarf Sunday mornings from 10:30am to 12:30pm during the month of June. No commitment required. Come whenever you like...whether its once to cast on or every week. We are happy to help if required. Yarn - 4 balls of Lang Mille Colori Baby (must be purchased at the Shoppe - $58.71 tax included); 3mm knitting needles. Join us in starting your Christmas knitting now to avoid the last minute maker stress!


SLOUCHY PULLOVER Knit A Long! The Slouchy Pullover is oversized, yet supremely lightweight. Knit with an airy, lace-weight mohair (DROPS Kid-Silk) held quadrupled to give it a sheet, pretty appeal. Sunday Afternoons - June 16th to June 30th;1:30pm to 4:00pm. Cost; Yarn and Pattern (Pattern available through the Shoppe or Ravelry) - Approx. $120. Registration required by June 7th. Pattern - Slouchy Pullover designed by Churchmouse Yarns. Yarn - DROPS Kid-Silk; quantity required dependent on chosen length and size of sweater.


Whirl Wednesdays! Come and knit/crochet something amazing with us on Wednesday evenings during the month of May. Wednesday evenings - May 8th to May 29th; 6:30 to 8:30pm. Pick your choice of pattern from one of the 6000+ completed projects on Ravelry or choose one of your own. The only fee is the cost of the Whirl required for you project....1, 2, or 3 balls.


Butterfly/Papillon Shawl Knitting Class! We have chosen to offer this as a class in place of a KAL this time as we found it was difficult to be social while counting (this pattern requires a lot of counting). Sunday Afternoons - May 26th to June 9th; 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Cost: Supplies only - Approx. $125. Registration required by May 17th. Pattern - Butterfly/Papillon designed by Marin Melchior Yarn - Urth Yarns Uneek Fingering (2 skeins), and Urth Yarns Harvest, Cascade Heritage or Malabrigo Sock (1 skein). This is a fun short row pattern which creates a beautiful piece of wearable art. We feel you will be confident with the pattern and techniques required to complete your shawl independently following the 3 weeks of class.


Beginner Tapestry Weaving Workshop - no experience necessary! Enjoy the evening at Granny Bird's Wool Shoppe with our local Instructors Janis Huisman (Too Many Irons Studio) and Lisa Graves (Kawartha Weaving) as they take you through the basic stitches and weaving techniques necessary to make your own one of a king wall hanging. All equipment and supplies are provided - and you even get to keep the loom! A selection of different yarn colourways will be available. Date: Saturday, June 1st from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Cost: $100 (includes loom to keep, yarn, class notes and required tools) - a $50 non-refundable deposit is required at time of registration.

C2C (Corner to Corner) Crochet Blanket Class

Come learn C2C (Corner to Corner Crochet) with us! No experience necessary...we will teach you everything you need to know. Dates: Tuesday Evenings - April 9th to April 30th. (*A basic skills class will be held on April 2nd for those who are new to crochet). Time: 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Cost: Supplies only - Approx. $115. Registration required by March 30th. Pattern - Diamond Cascade C2C Blanket designed by Jessica Z of Living The Craft Life. Yarn - Universal Yarn Uptown Worsted. Within the class, you will learn all the stitches and skills (ch, dc, sl st, following a graph and colour changes) required to make any future C2C graph project your heart desires!

Come Knit The Chunky Cabled Hat with Heidi!

Come Knit the Chunky Cabled Hat, designed by Destiny Meyer with Heidi (10 years old) this Saturday, February 2nd from12 to 4pm. Pattern is available for purchase on Ravelry or through the Shoppe. Yarn to be purchased at Granny Bird's Wool Shoppe. Top your hat off with a yarn pom pom or one of our Customer favourite faux fur pom poms! Please let us know if you plan to attend. Learn to Knit Class

Learn to Knit Class. If you want to learn to knit, we are looking for you! Sign up for Our 4 Part Learn to Knit Class. Tuesday Evenings from 6:30 to 8:30, starting February 5th. We will be knitting the Wheat Scarf designed by Tin Can Knits. A pattern from their learn to knit series - The Simple Collection. Class Schedule: Feb. 5th - Casting On and The Knit Stitch, Feb.12th - Introducing the Purl, Feb.19th - The Check In and Problem Solving, Mar. 12th - The Finale...Casting Off and Weaving In Ends. Free Class. Registration is required. Yarn must be purchased at Granny Bird's Wool Shoppe. Needles and additional supplies (stitch markers and darning needles) are also available for purchase at the Shoppe.
