The CNUSDLitteam is having a book-raiser party. Help us donate a classroom library to a lucky high school teacher at our annual CNUSD Literacy is Everywhere annual conference in July. This is the first of 3 book-raisers planned (high school, middle school, elementary school). Please help us gather an appealing, inspiring collection of books.
When: Sunday May 7, 2017 1:30-5:00pm
Where: Old Stump Brewing Co. 2896 Metropolitan Pl, Pomona, CA 91767
How do I participate? Just bring 1-3 new or gently used book to donate to a high school CNUSD classroom library. (You can also bring an Amazon or Barnes Noble gift card.)
How do I know which book to donate? We are looking for books from a variety of genres that are appealing, multi-cultural, popular, recent, and encompass a wide range of reading levels. We suggest that you first ask a teenager what books he or she like to read. Otherwise, take a look at these lists that we've curated for you.
“Teenagers want to read-if we let them. Students who I believe are determined nonreaders become committed, passionate readers given the right books, time to read, and regular response to their thinking.” -Penny Kittle, Book Love: Developing Depth, Stamina, and Passion in Adolescent Readers
