My Favorite Song
"Hey Jude" by the Beatles is my favorite song.
I am Edward Boone. My son is Christopher Boone and he has a mental disorder that needs to be watched upon 24 hours a day. I take care of him on my own. Sometimes, while I'm at work, I trust him to take care of himself. The reason I talk about him and not about me is because he is the most important person in the world. I am a very depressed person. My daily routine is coming home from work, sitting on the sofa, and have a few cans of beer. At times, when Christopher and I get into a fight, I remind myself of a quote by Frederick Douglass, "Without a struggle, there can be no progress". I have a sad life, but I do what I need to do, and that is what's really important.

It was late one night, and Christopher wasn't home. I was terrified at the thought of where he was or what he could've been doing. I received a phone-call from the police station.
They phoned to notify me that my son Christopher was arrested striking a cop. They said he was at the station and he needed a guardian to take him home. I was angry. The reason was because this was just one more reminder of Christopher's illness and his interaction between other people. I ignored it, and went to the station.
When I saw Christopher the only thing I felt was a sense of joy. I took him home. He told me he found our neighbor, Ms. Shears', dog, Wellington, dead with a pitchfork through the body. He said he brought it to Ms. Shears where she thought he killed Wellington, and that's why she called the police.
To keep it simple the only things I like to do is to finally get home from work and have a couple of beers and see whats on TV. I mostly watch football and rugby, if they're on. Sometimes I might read the newspaper or listen to rock and roll on the player. Other than that I'm a simple guy living a tough life, but its okay.
