Native son of Savannah, Georgia, Jamey has called Missouri, Pennsylvania, and now, North Carolina home. He began playing guitar and singing when he was seven and has never lost his love for music and the performance arts.

With three years of classical voice training at Duquesne University, Jamey performed in many locations in Pittsburgh, PA including with the Pittsburgh Opera Company. During that time he also created a rock band and produced a CD.

Wanting to increase his musical range he transferred to the University of North Carolina in Wilmington where he was graduated with a BA in Music Performance. While continuing to study voice, Jamey learned piano and keyboard, bass, drums, and increased his skills on the guitar. He performed lead roles in several musicals at the Thalian Association, the North Carolina State Theater, and performed at local venues as singer and musician. During this time in Wilmington, NC, Jamey began to work with people of all ages through the Episcopal Church, the Wilmington Academy of Arts and Science, and on the UNCW college campus. Here he developed his skills as a music director, leader, and a teacher providing various musical groups with historical and geographical understanding of musical heritage. Here, to the thrill of parents and students alike, he taught students with private lessons and with the “Rock Band” experience. Students were quick to see the benefit of learning new skills and parents loved the enthusiasm exhibited with these new skills in live venues. He has received many awards and recognition for his work as vocalist, musician and actor. But feels that the greatest reward is being able to pass on these skills to others as teacher.

Currently, Jamey is working with students, encouraging their efforts in performance by teaching individual performance skills and group performance skills, sound enhancement and the use of sound equipment. He also performs with a local band and teaches voice.

During a recent trip to South Africa, Jamey explored the musical traditions and created videos highlighting the people, the area, and the music. Before this Fall semester begins he will be doing the same for a week in Northern California. We will be putting up links to YouTube clips in the near future and hope that you will check them out.
