Black Mountain Elementary School Preparing students for the global stage

If your child is experiencing any symptoms of illness, please keep them at home. It is best practice to keep your children home when they are feeling any symptoms of an illness. Please do not send your child to school if you are awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test. If someone in your family tests positive for COVID-19, please follow the MCDPH guidelines that close contacts quarantine to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Please click here to see CCUSD's "remain in school plan" as well as flow charts and guidance from the Maricopa County Health Department regarding COVID-19.

Our district calendar committee, which is composed of parents, teachers, classified staff members, and administrators will be sending out two calendar proposals on November 15th. I highly encourage you to take the time to read the survey in its entirety and vote so that we can take an informed calendar proposal to the governing board in December. We have some exciting options for next year that will support student learning.

Help me Welcome Dr. Vermes, BMES PSYCHOLOGIST

My name is Dr. Ilene Vermes. I just moved back to Arizona from Cherry Hill, NJ. I lived in Arizona from 1999-2004 to get my doctorate in Clinical Psychology which I pursued in New Jersey from 2004-2011. I went back to school to become a school psychologist and worked in the field for ten years in Camden, NJ. I am the very proud parent of one son, Noah, who is 19 years old and attends Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is majoring in accounting and finance. My ex-husband and I adopted him when he was two days old and I have a great relationship with his birth mother. I also have a five month old shitzu named Henry who is trying to acclimate to Arizona. I enjoy reading, playing mahjong, needlepoint, and traveling. I am so excited to become a part of the Black Mountain Elementary School.
