Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on January 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. She was one out 12 kids of Avie Lee Owens and Robert Lee Parton.
In 1951 at the age of five, Dolly composed her first song "Little Tiny Tassle Top" with the help of her mother Avie Lee Parton. The song was a tribute to her doll which was made out of a corncob and corn silk hair.
1957 Parton makes her first recording "Puppy Love" with Goldband Records.
1962 Dolly and her uncle Bill Owens are signed to Tree Publishing and Mercury Records in Nashville, TN.
April 30, 1964, Dolly Parton and Carl Dean met
May 30, 1966, Carl and Dolly got married.


1971 Parton's solo single "Joshua" becomes her FIRST number one hit.
1975 Dolly Parton wins the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year award
1991 the album "Eagle When She Flies" gives Dolly yet another number one hit on the charts.

2001 The Grass Is Blue wins the Grammy for Best Bluegrass.

On April 14, 2004, Dolly accepts the Living Legend Medal from the Library of Congress. This award is given to those who have made a significant contributions to America's scientific, social and cultural heritage.
April 30, 2007, Dolly's foundation gave away 5 million books to youth.
2011 Parton was awarded with the Grammy Life Achievement Award
In 2015 Dolly Parton net worth sat at $500 million.

In 2016 Dolly began her Pure & Simple Tour

It happened to be her 43rd solo studios album released.

It also hit #1 on the billboard of Top Country Ablum

Today, May 5, 2017 Dolly Parton Homecoming Parade is taking place.
