The Man Behind the Lens

Hello and welcome to my blog! With this being my first blog post ever, I thought I would do an about me piece. Starting a blog is something that I've wanted to do for a long time so I'm really excited about all the content I'm going to create and hopefully, if you're reading this you'll come along for the ride with me!

That's the man behind the camera^ (I swear I'm happier than I look in that photo)
"Hi my name is Nick Grace"

For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Nick Grace, and most people call me just that. I have one of those names that just flows better when you say it as the full name so I go by "NickGrace". I used to hate it, but now I've gotten used to it, to the point I introduce myself as such.

"I'm a Photographer"
This is my good side.

If it wasn't obvious from the photos above, I'm a photographer. I first picked up photography the summer going into my senior year of high school and have been in love with it since. I started out just taking photos of nature, my friends, and of course myself (got to make sure the Insta feed was looking good). But now, it has turned into more than I could have ever imagined. I've slowly upgraded all my gear and gained more experience shooting everything from sports to portraits to events and I've even shot a few weddings. I don't know if I'd consider myself a professional yet. I still think I have a lot to learn. I honestly don't really know where photography will take me in my life. But one thing I know for sure is I could not be more thankful for the opportunities photography has given me. Through it, I've been able to work with and meet so many amazing people. I've had the opportunity to follow inspirational and heartbreaking stories, shoot concerts, professional and collegiate sports games, and most importantly to me capture people's happiest (and sometimes even saddest) moments and emotions in a single photo. In my opinion, there is no better feeling than watching someone's face light up when they see one of my photos and the smile that comes across their face. It's because of that that I keep doing what I do, and why my favorite thing to take photos of is people, no matter the occasion.

" I'm a currently a student at Endicott College"

I always say the best decision in my life, besides deciding to buy a camera, was choosing Endicott to be my home away from. And thats just what Endicott has become, my home. I chose Endicott because it has programs that fit what i wanted to do and the campus is beautiful. But it has become so much more than that. Most people think I go to school for photography but I'm actually a marketing major with only a minor in photography. My philosophy behind that is I can learn photography through the minor (and youtube) and then learn how to market myself or how a creative fits within a marketing and communications team. Endicott has provided me with so much more than an education but I think all that is for a future blog post.

And now, I'm a blogger.

Like I said above, this is something that I've wanted to do for about a year now. I've always wanted to write for sites like The Odyssey so you can defintly expect posts like that on anything from TV shows, music, college, or just life. However, this blog wouldn't be attached to a photography website if I didn't include posts about my upcoming photo adventures or photo essays on stories that I am given the opportunity to follow.

If you've come this far, good news, you're done! You've made it through my first ever blog post. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. Hopefully you'll come back for future posts. I'm so excited to see where this blog goes!

Till next time.
