JHB Syndications News 27th October

Many fans are calling it the most anticipated horse race in Australian history. Today Winx will attempt to race into unparalleled immortality as she attempts a 4th Cox Plate in succession, and it seems that nothing can stop the great mare.

The build up to the big race has had a bit of everything; sizzling track work, committee intervention, some big better-than-bank-interest bets, a pot-stirring pom, a devoted trainer, a book launch, an incredible documentary (The Trilogy Of The Turf, you can watch it anytime on the racing.com app) and much more! There’s nothing like the spectacle of a Cox Plate in front of a full capacity crowd and the 2018 renewal promises to be one that we as racing fans will never forget.

Early in the day JHB will be playing a cameo role with Biscara who runs in the $500,000 Inglis Banner. This 2 year-old daughter of Rubick was very brave on debut running second and we hope she can go one better here! Mark Zahra will take the ride from barrier one and with a stroke of luck she can be in the finish. Good luck to her wonderful owners!

Also, we are wishing the colts syndicate all the best with Spin who runs in the G3 Australia Stakes (race 5) where he also looks to be a great chance.

Next week the carnival continues on to Flemington for a huge 4 days of racing. The JHB team will be in Melbourne for the week and we would love to see you, whether it’s on race day or for a drink during the week. Feel free to touch base between now and then.

As a filly with the physique and scope to be a high-class 2YO and train on to great success as a 3YO, we have been waiting patiently to release this impressive specimen to the market. She could not have pleased us more in the early stages of her education, with exemplary feedback from her trainer Gary Portelli, trainer of 2016 Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign. See her in action below, leading her gallop against her peers in great style, and then again leaving them in her wake in a jump out at Warwick Farm (note how little pressure she is under!).

Hinchinbrook is, very sadly, no longer with us, and with early 2YO stakes winner UNITE AND CONQUER amongst his progeny, his legacy looks set to continue!

Watch her parade during her pre-training above - note her great quality, depth of girth and fluent stride. She is a good example of a horse with a great overstep (where the hind foot falls in front of where the front foot has fallen at a walk), which translates to great power and efficiency at a gallop - you can see this best at around the 17 second mark.
