The Badminton team traveled to Long Island, NY to compete in the North-East National Collegiate Team Championship. GMU placed 4th in the Division 2 playoffs. Their wins came against the University of Connecticut (7-2) and Swarthmore College (5-4), though they lost to Princeton University (2-7) and the University of Rochester (3-6).
Baseball hosted UMD at our own Spuhler Field for a doubleheader on Saturday and a series decider on Sunday. Mason’s pitching and strong presence at the plate boosted them to a 6-3 win in the first game of the day. However, UMD rallied back in the second to defeat Mason 3-10. Mason struggled on Sunday to get the bats going again, only scoring one run, while UMD answered with nine to win the series 2-1 over the Patriots.
Men’s Lacrosse hosted a one game matchup against VCU on Saturday. Despite having a limited roster, the Patriots held strong through the first half, keeping the score within one. Unfortunately they could not continue to fight through heat and exhaustion and lost 2-9, their first loss at home.
The Men’s Rugby team traveled to VCU to compete in the Henrico 7’s Tournament. Despite two losses and one tie for the Patriots, Brian Paap, Austin Apothecar, and Bassam Estawani all scored tries, while Abhi Kumar made the biggest tackle of the day against an opponent three times his size.
