Nelson Mandela as a King

Nelson Mandela as a King

Nelson Mandela demonstrated many qualities of a king during his life time, especially during his president. As the first democratically elected president of South Africa, he ruled over a large group of previously oppressed people. While kings were not democratically elected in the same way Nelson Mandela was, his 4-year presidency over the vast country of South Africa shows his prescense as a kingly figure.

Jesus as a King

Jesus was also a king in a similar way to Nelson Mandela. As a prophet, he was the leader of a devout group of followers, making him a "king" over his followers. Jesus is also frequently referred to "king of kings" and "lord of lords" in scripture, showing his features as a king.

Bible Verses

Acts 2:30 “But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.”

John 18:37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
