Mario Kart 8 Nintendo Switch

Mario Kart for the Nintendo Switch will be played as a single elimination tournament with four-players racing at time within a single in-game cup (i.e. - Mushroom Cup, Leaf Cup, Star Cup, etc). Only the top racer (the player with the most points in the cup) will advance to the next heat.

A note regarding controllers: players may bring their own controllers and use them during the tournament, however they will be responsible for ensuring that said controllers are able to pair with the tournament Nintendo Switch systems. Four standard Joy-cons will be made available.

GAME RULES:

  • Cup selection is permanently set to "random" and will be decided by FLAN Party staff casting lots (we're gonna pull the cup selection from a hat).
  • Seeding in the final tournament bracket is determined by the cumulative scores of the previous rounds. If ties exist and time permits, tie-breaker races will be used to finalize seeding.
  • Each round of the bracket (i.e. - each heat) will consist of four cumulative races, and after the fourth race the top one player will advance to the next stage of the bracket.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Championship 4-race heat!
