EMERALD TIDE PHOTOGRAPHY Welcome Guide

Hello! My name is Kayla - owner and photographer at Emerald Tide Photography. My love of photography started when I was about four years old, styling and posing my Barbies around the house, getting the film developed and showing off the photos to everyone I knew. It continue throughout the years with family photos and documenting life. I took a few photography classes and experimented in the dark room. Soon after, I purchased my first professional camera and fell in LOVE.

I have a laid back, comfortable approach to documenting all your life events. I want to make you feel amazing while creating an unforgettable experience when capturing your best, most important memories that will last a lifetime. I love building a strong connection with my clients, from the initial consultation and beyond, even after the images have been delivered - to understand who you are and showcase that in your images.

I love capturing movement and raw emotions. I strive to produce the type of images that make you remember exactly how you felt at that moment - the wind in your hair, the sun on your skin, the smell of the fresh cut grass and wildflowers, and most importantly, the love you feel for your family and the unforgettable time you had during your session.

Over the years, I've owned many cameras and definitely have grown as a photographer. And though my cameras have changed and my skills have progressed, one thing remains constant: my passion and fascination for capturing your memories.I can't wait to document your love!

Your Style

First and foremost, these photographs are all about you. This means what you wear should represent your personality and personal style. If you are casual and laid back, be true to that. If you love dressing up, make it fancy! It's definitely important to be yourself during your session, so please make sure to wear something that reflects you. If you choose something for your session you usually would never wear, you'll most likely feel awkward and uncomfortable and look back on your images and think, "WHY did I wear that?!" instead of focusing on the true beauty of your images.

Make It Pop

With that said, you can still play up your personal style using a combination of textures and colors. You should start with a neutral color (black, white, grey) and add small pops of color. For example, a well fitted pair of jeans with a bright color shirt, say red, underneath a grey cardigan with matching shoes or jewelry is perfect! Maybe you like khakis better, which could be paired with blue or green accents. Don't be afraid to play with textures either - fuzzy furs, chunky knit scarves or sweaters, or flowy fabrics help create great images. If more than one person is involved in the session, make sure everyone is wearing similar neutrals and the same shade of accent color(s) represented through shirts, hats, scarves, jewelry, or other accessories.

Pressed & Polished

Make sure to lay out your clothes a few days before your session and make sure everything is neat, ironed, and clean. Don't forget to make sure your nails are clean and/or polished nicely and a matching color represented in your clothing choice.

My Process

Depending on the package you choose, we'll shoot for an hour or more on location. This includes the time it takes to set up my equipment, lighting, change of outfits and move from one location to another if you choose. We'll take a lot of photographs over the course of those hours, some which will be forever favorites, proudly displayed in your home. After our session, I'll go though all the images taken that day and choose the best ones to finalize and perfect. This turnaround time typically takes two weeks. I also post a sneak peek on my social media pages to hold you over until I'm finished. I will then add all of your final images to a private online gallery where you can view them and send them off to family and friends to view. From there, you can select your favorites to order professional prints and other gifts that will display beautifully in your home!
