Stuart Ross and The Temp Agency create a sound you might have heard wandering through the streets of New Orleans in the 40’s, or passing by a New York City club in the 60’s, but in fact they make their music in the quirky Vermont village of White River Junction. Their influences include Mumford and Sons, Ray LaMontagne, Allen Toussaint, Van Morrison, and Johnny Cash. The band’s songwriter, Stuart Ross Johnson, grew up listening to Southwestern Americana, New Orleans jazz, and his dad’s “oldies.” The band’s debut album, “Wandering In The Wild” is a meandering journey through personal wilderness. These songs struggle with doubt, search for meaning, wrestle with leaving friends and family behind for new adventures, and eventually discover new life. The music dips to soft acoustic ballads and rises to a full vibrant sound featuring horns, strings, drums, bass and guitar. There are 6 active members: Andy Wyatt (bass), Danielle Concerty (Vocals, Trombone and ukulele), Jared Oren (violin, viola, percussion and vocals), Mike Conerty (trumpet, bass and vocals), Stuart Ross Johnson (guitar, vocals and percussion), Warren Smith (drums).
