The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs.Basil E. Frankweiler by: becky nguyen

Claudia Kincaid

Claudia is tired of her family and decides to runaway.

This is Claudia Kincaid. She is 12 years old and lives with her parents and her 3 younger brothers. She isn't happy with her life, that's for sure. She is bossy, but can be a caring and kind person. She can't live in the wild and likes fancy stuff.

Jamie Kincaid

Mad Jamie.

This is Jamie Kincaid. He is 9 years old and quite a gambler. Besides that, he is a joker and is the best teammate for Claudia. He gets a bit....... upset when she pushes him for no reason and doesn't notice he that he fell (rude).

Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler in her lab coat.

Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is a very rich woman with a kind heart. She is good at playing cards and is simple, even though she's rich. She has a big house and enjoys Claudia and Jamie. She also has a lot of information and is smart.

The Museum

This is the museum Claudia and Jamie hid in.

This is the museum, Claudia and Jamie's hideout. The museum holds artifacts and a bunch of more stuff. It is also the best place to hide things.

The Angel Statue

Angel Statue that looks familiar to Claudia.

This is the angel statue, which may or may not have been carved by Michelangelo. Claudia took great interest in this statue, especially when she found a hidden "m" under the statue.

Problem

Claudia and Jamie had ran away from home. They hid in a museum and discovered that an angel statue was being sold. That statue may or may not have been carved by Michelangelo. Claudia and Jamie decide that it is time for them to be heroes and discover if Michelangelo really carved the angel statue.

Solution

Claudia was really determined to find out if the statue was really carved by Michelangelo. So she got Jamie to help her and they went to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler's House to ask some questions. Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler knew the answer, but she hid it in one of her files. They had an hour to search and found out the answer.

Summary

Claudia decides to run away. She brings Jamie, her little brother, along with her. They hide out in the museum. When Claudia and Jamie find out that an angel statue is being sold for $225, they decide to investigate. Under the statue, they spotted the letter "m" which could stand for Michelangelo. This was their time to be heroes and find out. Many, many hours of researching everywhere, they found...... nothing. After some thinking, they decide to go to Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler's house to get some answers. She gives them a limited time to find the answers in her files. They got the answer and told her about their adventure as they ate lunch, which she offered. Claudia and Jamie liked her and since she had no children and was an elderly, they thought of her as a grandma. It was a secret though, but Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler overheard it all.

My Questions and Comments

Here are some questions and comments I have......

-Why did Claudia and Jamie choose to sleep in a bed that someone got murdered in?

-Did Claudia and Jamie feel uncomfortable bathing in the dolphin fountain at the museum?

-How did Jamie manage to stuff up his pockets with all those pennies?

-I love Claudia's personality, she is strong willed and hard- headed.

-Jamie is an awesome brother in this story, he is funny and makes good decisions.

-E. L. Konigsburg wrote this story very well and I think she should write another one about how later they have another adventure after a few months, but with Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
