Message from Principal Reg McShane
I hope you are all doing well and adapting to distance-learning. We are hearing some frustration from students and parents. Please take time and either call or email your child's teacher to share what's working and what isn't working.
Please encourage your children to turn in the work they are completing. Our teachers are trying to keep the workload to 30 minutes or less for each class each day. Our expectation is that your child spend between 3 and 4 hours a day doing school work. Some students complete the work in less time and others may take longer. If the work is taking longer, please communicate with your child's teacher.
I am very concerned that we have students that have turned in little or no work. Our fourth quarter grades will be pass or incomplete. We are looking at ways we can support your students handling those incompletes come fall. Options may include Fridays school or use of elective class periods. We want to provide opportunities for your children to fill those education content gaps.
We are also looking at ways we can handle the end of the school year field trips and events Honor Roll, No detention, 8th grade field trip and 8th grade graduation. Our plan to replace field trips is to look into gift cards. Students will still receive a reward for their efforts. Students with no detentions that choose to turn in little or no work stand the possibility of not receiving their gift card (school is a priority). In closing I want to thank all of you for your hard work and patience as we navigate the COVID-19 situation. This is such a sad time for our young people. It's a tough time for families and we have no idea when things will return to normal. Please let us know if we can help. We will do the best we can to respond to your needs thank you.

Attendance- Parents, your child still needs to check in with their teachers during this time. Please make your child is emailing, joining a Google meet or talking with them via phone call.
Parents, below we have attached a YouTube video that can help your student understand Google Classroom. This video has some great information to help your child to navigate Google Classroom during this time.

Teacher Appreciation Week May 4th-7th
Don't forget about Teacher Appreciation Week! Even though your student is not in the building, our teachers are working hard to continue to support your student, and you, the parent. Show your appreciation to your teachers by emailing them a thank you note or dropping one off in the drop box. Mrs. Galer and Miss Brenda will make sure that your teachers will get them.
Our school would like to extend Teacher Appreciation Week to you, the parent! We know this hasn't been an easy task for you but we want you to know that we appreciate everything you are doing at home to help us continue the education for your student.
