The Fourth Tuesday We talk about death

Morrie and Mitch talk about being aware of death. Morrie makes the example, which comes from the Buhdist culture, to imagine that there is a little bird on your shoulder every day that asks “Is today the day? Am I ready? Am I doing all I need to do” Am I Being the person I want to be?” (Morrie 81) They talk about how everyone knows they are going to die, but can’t accept it. They cannot bear to think of death. Morrie says “once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.” He talks about, when you’re dying, you strip away all the unimportant things in life and focus on the bare essentials.

Morrie says, "Is today the day? Am i ready? Am i doing all i need to do" Am i being the person i want to be?" (Morrie 81)

Morrie is saying this quote because he's feeling down and doesnt really know when he is gonna die
