Leo IX was born on June 21, 1002 to an aristocratic family

Leo IX became pope on February 12, 1049 and sought out to eliminate clerical marriage, simony and lay investiture

Leo IX led a papal army to banish the Normans but was captured and held captive for nine months, he died when he returned to Rome.

Saint Dominic

St Dominic was born in Old Castile Spain he was trained for the priesthood and became a canon at Osma
St Dominic came face to face with Albigensian heresy at Languedoc on a trip to france

St Dominic continued this work for 10 years and in 1215 he founded a religious house at Toulouse the Order of Preachers (Dominicans)

St. Francis of Assisi

St Francis was born in Italy circa 1181,and liked to party in his early life. Then he was imprisoned during a battle with Perugia

St Francis of Assisi spent nearly a year in prison and started getting visions from god.

St Francis of Assisi abandoned his life of luxury after a vision and he developed marks and injuries resembling those of christ and developed a love of nature and animals throughout his life
