marlboro By: Jordan Vanden Wymelenberg, Arialis Aranda, and Amanda Hoff

Marlboro was founded in 1924 by Phillip Morris and introduced as a women's cigarette. Overtime they grew to be one of the top brands to manufacture and sell cigarettes.

Due to the notorious smoking culture within France, we chose to focus our investigation on their smoking culture in terms of use and perception in order to compare it to the United States

Influences on Consumption

  • France and the United States have both issued bans towards smoking in public
  • France has become more lenient after bans
  • The United States as a society has constructed smoking into a dirty, bad habit, unlike France.
  • The smoking rate among french men has reduced but the habit has spread among french women.
GOING FORWARD
