Finally, is there another planet like Earth you could survive in in the galaxy? According to NASA, they have found a planet called the Kepler-186f. This planet is one of the only ones that is the same size as Earth.
Also, it has oceans of water and rocky lands. This planet orbits or circles another star once every 130 days and receives ⅓ the energy, which means that when the sun is at the highest point in Kepler-186f, it has the same brightness as when the sun sets in Earth.
But, the planet is in the habitable zone of the star which meant that it is possible that there can be living things on the planet.
However, we can’t just go there now. This is because it is about 500 light years away, the distance that light travels in one year. In other words, it is about 2.94 quadrillion miles away. This would take more than 19 million years to reach with a normal space shuttle so we wouldn’t even make it there before we die.
Also, we can’t be so sure that people can survive there. According to Thomas Barclay, research scientist at the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute at Ames, Iowa, “Being in the habitable zone does not mean we know this planet is habitable. The temperature on the planet is strongly dependent on what kind of atmosphere the planet has.”
