Avondale Newsletter 22nd December 2016

End of Term

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term as Headteacher. I would like to thank all our children for making it such an enjoyable term and also thank parents/guardians for their support. Together we have made great progress and I know that we will continue this in 2017. My thanks also go to the staff of Avondale, who are committed, professional and inspirational in all that they do. Mrs V Brown Headteacher

Goodbye & good luck

We would like to say a warm goodbye to Mr Gary Hindle, who is leaving us for pastures new after just over three and a half years’ service with the school.

We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Vicky Crompton, Special Support Assistant. Although Vicky has only been with us for a short period of time, she has secured a permanent position elsewhere and we wish her all the very best.

Mrs Yvonne Holden, who many children will know from the kitchen, is also leaving us after 3 and a half years. She is trying something new altogether and working in the care industry.

chair of governors

Apologies but there was an error in last week’s Newsletter. Mr John Bentley, who is stepping down from the Chair of the Board, has served as a Governor for 28 years and not a mere 14!

christmas lunch

A huge well done to Mrs Tipping, Ms Haworth and all the kitchen staff for serving an incredible 440 Christmas lunches. All children and staff enjoyed a full Christmas lunch, including stuffing and cranberry sauce and of course, a cracker to pull! More meals were served here than in a Michelin starred restaurant and all one hour! Well done.

The winning house of the term is Blue House, with a score of 3333. Close second were Green Team, who had 2933 points. Red Team had 2430 points and Yellow Team had 2032 points.

Blue Team will be able to have a non-uniform day on Friday 13 January 2017 as an extra treat.
