Message from the school.

It has been a fantastic first few weeks back in school. Classrooms are full of happy children who are trying their hardest and producing some amazing work.

Thank you to everyone who filled in the parent questionnaire - it was great to read so many positive comments about the school as well as some of the areas that you think we could make even better.

Some of the areas of school you really liked were;

  • Great relationships between the children and teachers as well as the parents and teachers.
  • Friendly atmosphere.
  • How supportive the school are.
  • The addition of the Trim Trail.
  • Pastoral care.
  • Our new EYFS buildings.
  • A safe school.
  • Everyone is approachable.
  • Happy children who enjoy school.

The areas that you feel we need to keep improving included;

  • The KS2 playground and the problems with the roots.
  • Parking around school.
  • More opportunities for parents to visit school.
  • Review the after school clubs and make sure these aren't cancelled at the last minute.

We have fed these comments back to the Leadership Team as well the Governors and we are already looking into ways to address these. We have already had a company out to price up making some 'raised beds' with seating that will go around the uneven playground sections. Not only will this address the issues raised but will create another place on the playground where children can sit and relax.

If anyone had any thoughts or suggestions please do feel free to either grab one of the staff on the playground before or after school or arrange a meeting with us by giving the office a ring.

School Updates and Reminders

Arrangements for the start and end of the school day.

Due to the ongoing building works we are using the KS2 gate to enter and leave school. This gate will be opened at 8.00am. Doors open at 8.50am. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time with all their belongings.

Medical Tracker

We record any accidents children have in school time on our accident reporting system, medical tracker. You will be notified of any accidents via email so please make sure we are made aware of any change to your email address. In the unlikely event your child suffers a serious accident you will be contacted by phone immediately. Can you therefore please make sure that we have an up to date contact number and email address if these have changed recently.

How to contact school

  • Telephone: 01977 677494

  • Address: St. Botolph's CE Academy, Primrose Vale, Knottingley, WF11 9BT
Parking outside school

With the current building work taking place and that we are limited to using one entrance into school there have been some concerns passed on to school about the parking around the school grounds.

As with most schools parking for drop off and collection is always going to be a challenge but can we please ask that anyone who drives their child / children to school respects the road markings as well as the local houses.

We have had reports that some driveways have been blocked and cars are parking on the grass verges.

We hope the building work will be completed on time (end of November) and we can then return to using both entrances into school and parking will then be spread out over the roads near where our main entrance is.
