Traveling to India MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

I traveled to India in 2015 to celebrate my cousins' wedding. We planned to stop in Mumbai and Benaulim, and then head to Karwar where the wedding was held. Here is what we did in Mumbai.

Dhobi Ghat

The world's largest open air laundry, which is located in Mumbai next to the Mahalaxmi bridge.

Gateway of India

Built in 1924, the Gateway of India was a welcome point for travelers coming from the West.

Hanging Gardens

Public park known for its greenery and escape to nature from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai.

Jain Temple

Full name: Babu Amichand Panalal Adishwarji Jain Temple. It's considered one of the best Jain temples in India.

Mani Bhavan

National Gandhi Museum.

These are photos of the streets of Mumbai, and the surrounding area in the southern part of the city. The city has 13 million people and is the largest city in India.
Even with modern machines, the Dhobi Ghat is estimated to launder half a million clothes each day from hotels, hospitals, and homes.
There are about 200 families who work and live in the Dhobi Ghat, and have been for about 100 years.
The Gateway of India is architectural style is Indo-Saracenic with Muslim influences.
It's free to walk around the grounds- you can grab a snack like bhelpuri and enjoy the waterfront. You can also catch a ferry to Elefanta Island from here.
Mumbai's Hanging Gardens are one of the best places to enjoy a stroll through some greenery, complete with views of the Arabian Sea.
Multi-million dollar houses are near the Gardens.
We were able to visit the Jain Temple, but could not go in this day due to religious ceremonies.
Jainism is a peaceful religion that does not condone any kind of violence against any living thing.
Mani Bhavan served as Gandhi's headquarters for about seventeen years (1917-1934).
Gandhi's life is depicted along the house in photographs, paintings and mementos.
Delicious dosa, sambar, and chutney breakfast at our hotel.
