I have faith that we, as a community, will stand firm and rise up as a stronger Bolivar BECAUSE WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER." ~Mayor Julian A. McTizic, Sr.
I ended last month's newsletter with the above quote. If you had told me when I ran for the office of the mayor that I would be leading the City of Bolivar through a pandemic of this magnitude, I am fairly certain that I would have laughed at you. Yet, here we are.
The word "whirlwind" comes to mind when I think about the last six weeks, and I want a do-over! I am sure that many of you feel the same way. Unfortunately, we cannot have a do-over. So what is one to do? STAND FIRM, RISE UP, and now we will OVERCOME! That is exactly what we are going to do!
You have heard me say, or you may have read in more than one article that Bolivar is a small town full of extraordinary citizens. I believe that statement with my full heart. It is why I love this small city so much, and it is why I chose to come back to Bolivar.
In the last 6 weeks, we have completely changed our way of living. We have come together! We have helped our neighbors! We have fought back against crime! We have supported our small businesses in the most innovative ways! We have prayed together; we have cried together; we have played (virtually) together; and we have lifted each other up!
These are unprecedented times. It will be some time before we get back to normal, but I have no doubt that we will because we are #BolivarStrong!
Mayor Julian A. McTizic, Sr.

The Code Compliance Division of the City of Bolivar maintains Bolivar's status as a clean, livable city by ensuring property complies with rules set forth by the Bolivar City Council. The code compliance officer routinely patrols neighborhoods for code violations and to investigate complaints with the mission of abating issues and educating residents.
If you observe violations, please report them to Ricky Watkins, Code Compliance Officer, via the "Report A Concern" feature on our website, by phone to (731)658-2020, or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
