Is SJSU a safe campus?
The Backbone of America
PSA for Junior Giants

In the first floor at the far back corner of MLK library, you will see San Joseans striving for opportunity. "I'm so happy when my mother brought us to the USA, she chose to live in the silicon Valley," say Maria Magana, as she reads her personal essay out loud. In little over a year, Maria has strengthened her English skills, going pas talking and vocabulary, too much tougher assignments that challenge her to write about her feeling and thoughts. Though much of this does not happen if it were not for volunteers like Jennifer Foot. "It is very important to be able to communicate with the people around you, to be able to understand the news, at the store, even the hospital. In this feature, we look at how Jennifer helps open opportunities to people like Maria, who once only spoke one language.
