Andrew Luna's Islands of Personality Comm 317 Semester Project

My name is Andrew Luna and these are my islands of personality. The idea for this format is based off of the Disney Pixar film Inside Out, where Riley, the main character, has 4-5 'islands of personality' in her mind that make her Riley. So come along on the tour of the four islands that make me who I am.

Riley's Islands of Personality from Inside Out referred to in the previous text.
A closer look at the photos on my laptop that were mentioned in the video.

My first island is Titan Island. A big part of my life at the moment is my academic career. CSUF has been an amazing home for me these past three years, and I could not be prouder to be a Titan. My degree is in Photo-communications. I originally chose to attend CSUF to try and pursue a career playing baseball. During my first two years, I was a part of the Club Baseball team on campus. I still have much to experience in the time I have remaining as a Titan, but the countdown to graduation has begun. T-minus 1 year.

Welcome to Photo Island. My love for photography stemmed in high school for me. I took my first photo class during my junior year and immediately fell in love with the art. I proceeded to take a more advanced class my senior year of high school, and from there I decided that I wanted to pursue photography outside of the classroom. This led me to declare a major emphasizing in photography and seek out a job in which I was able to be creative and enjoy what I do.

This is Disney Island. For as long as I can remember, Disney has been a major part of my life, I was raised on Disney. As I grew older and my passion for photography was in full swing, I spent a lot of time in the parks shooting anything I could think of, in every angle possible. Then the time came where I finally became a Cast Member at the Disneyland Resort. Before I was hired, I spent most of my time in Disneyland taking pictures, and now that I work there, I spend most of my time in Disneyland taking pictures, but now I get paid for it!

We've finally made it to Lunatic Island. In "Inside Out," one of Riley's Islands of Personality is Goofball Island. This is her weird and fun loving side, so I decided to make an island similar to this for myself. However, instead of Goofball Island, in a play on words I've named mine Lunatic Island. One of the most prominent and consistent traditions on this island is Disneybounding. This is a popular practice within the Disney community where you arrange your everyday outfits to emulate a Disney character. Now my inner/outer nerd goes far beyond Disney and all of it's entities, (Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar) I am also deeply invested in the world Harry Potter, I'm a passionate Dodger fan, I'm also what some would call Hamiltrash, etc. These are just a few moments the hijinks on Lunatic Island, all of which my lovely girlfriend was more than happy to take part in as well.

You're just as sane as I am

That is the end of the tour of my Islands of Personality. Now there are certainly not only four "islands" that make me who I am, but these are four of the most prominent ones. Now if "Inside Out" taught me anything, it's that none of the islands are set in stone, they are capable of changing, shifting, and evolving over time. So who knows, these islands may not still be the top four in a few years, (not likely) but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
