MENTORING FOR ALL – BLDS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING ENHANCEMENT FUND

As indicated in the Ministry’s March 24 memo on EPO funding, boards will have the opportunity to combine funding from the BLDS with the PLE: Mentoring for All fund to provide support for an expanded continuum of mentorship roles including but not limited to:

  • Associate Teachers
  • New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) mentors
  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) mentors
  • Business, Facilities and Support Staff mentors
  • Board Consultants and Coordinators
  • Other Mentors as specified by School Board
ENHANCING TEACHER DEVELOPMENT (ETD) FUND – NTIP

ETD – NTIP in year funding is available to boards on a limited basis for 2016/17 if any of the criteria below apply:

  • New Long Term Occasional Teachers with assignments of 4 months (80 days) but less than 97 days
  • Significant hiring of new Long Term Occasional Teachers 97+ days compared to number of new permanent hires
  • Significant increase in number of new permanent hires from previous years
  • NTIP required permanent hires past Year 2 on the Teacher Qualifications and Experience Grid
NTIP GSN FUNDING

As outlined in the Ministry’s Technical paper, in 2016–17, school boards will receive funding for the NTIP allocation that is the lesser of:

  • The sum of $50,000, plus $ 1542.36 per-teacher based on the number of teachers on rows 0 to 2 of the Teacher Qualifications and Experience Grid (with movement) for 2015-16

OR

  • A board's expenditure for NTIP in 2016–17

Both the 16/17 plan and the 15/16 report are due July 8, 2016 to your regional education officer.
