REPORT ON SURVEY

My topic for this survey is finding out what the most popular genre of music for entertainment. When I say entertainment, it refers to the music played at parties, dances, weddings, and just something someone would enjoy. I chose this topic because I really love music. I do not have a preference in music, I could listen to rock, rap, country, 70s, etc. Though I do not have a preference in music, I know other people do, especially the people of my generation. I wanted to find out how similar the taste in music is for a group of people. Out of the people who took my survey, there are different age groups and personalities, so the results would be interesting.

After looking at the results, I found I was right in some ways. When it came to different instruments, most or half of the people enjoyed the same type of guitar or percussion. When it came to asking people to turn down their music, there was no age group that shared answers. Teens and adults mixed between the two sides of the question. Based on all the results, I was correct to say most people enjoy the same type of music. The age group had little to do with preference in music, but the taste in music was fairly similar based on several different factors, such as instruments.

I was surprised by the results because I was expecting age groups to split up between different genres of music. For example, I was expecting all teens who took my survey to prefer music in the 2000s, but about 2 or 3 people of the age group chose 70s-90s music. Also, when it came to asking people to turn down their music, some adults said no, and some teens said yes. Based on looking at all the responses, I was surprised to see more similarities between answers than I expected.
