New A's stadium targeted near Laney College

Tuesday was a big one for the A's, whose five-game winning streak was snapped in a rout against Boston while their 2002 AL-record 20-game win streak matched by the Indians.

But the biggest news came late when the SF Chronicle reported that the team plans to build a new privately financed, 35,000-seat, $500-million stadium where the Peralta Community College District offices currently stand near Laney College in downtown Oakland.
