Persephone Marble Sculpture

Persephone is a mythological character that was a favorite subject for marble sculptors of the 1800s. This sculpture was made by an American artist named Hiram Powers studying in Italy. When he returned to America, the artist toured his sculptures in railroad cars to charge visitors to see his marble creations.
