Interim Head of School

Dear parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Interim Head of School here at MAPS

I have a desire for all children to excel personally, socially, creatively and academically and feel that the holistic view of a child is imperative to success for all.

Creativity and academia have been hand in hand at all times in my life. I am a musician with a love for singing; as well as playing the violin and trumpet. My first degree was a Fine Art degree which allowed me to explore and refine my abilities and creativity. I then went on to complete my Post Graduate certificate in Early Years education – after which I began my teaching career. To date I have taught across all year groups and have fulfilled several roles that have built up a breadth of understanding within the primary school setting. I have been lucky enough to lead and pilot the Singing Schools project at my previous school where we were fortunate enough to be awarded with the national Primary/Early Years Award for Musical Excellence. Leading this meant I was then recognised at the David Ross Education Trust Inspiration Awards as Teacher of the Year, 2018.

My passion for education and paving the way for our younger generations to flourish is engrained in all I do and I look forward to sharing the journey at MAPS with you.

I look forward to meeting more of you throughout the academic year and continuing the work here at MAPS to strive for excellence.

Please do come and say ‘hi’ in the mornings!

Thank you for your warm welcome,

Miss J.D. Hives

An update on the Sensory Space project...

Great progress is being made with plans for 'MAPS Sensory Den'. We have met with DRET and they fully support the venture and are keen to match fund to make this dream come true! Great news. We have another meeting scheduled for the end of February where we want to agree a timeline to deliver the Den ready for this September

Fundraising is going to be key over the coming months, to add to the pot already raised, so we would be really keen to hear from you should you have any thoughts or ideas. Anyone with access to match funding through work and want to support, please do get in touch

Alternatively this link will take you directly to our fund raising page where you can donate directly localgiving.org/charity/theresourcesincommunitytrust/project/MAPS
